On our first visit to this school in a rural part of Kibungo Province we found a mud-bricked building without any doors, windows or toilets. Students sat on the floor (with 100 in each class) without books, pencils, blackboards and desks. In total, 400 children attended this school with four teachers.
We were able to raise a significant amount of money to re-brick the whole building, and to add doors and windows. We have also built toilets. Some floors have been concreted and there are some desks and benches now in the classrooms. Exercise books are still in short supply. Two further classrooms have also been added and there are now 1,100 pupils attending the school. The school now looks like this:
Two further classrooms need to be built as soon as possible to give
additional accomodation which is badly needed and the first is now
complete as can be seen in this photo taken recently.
